Consumption upon consumption....is everyone just blinded by addiction?

Last weekend really brought a REAL and TRUE issue to face.  I think it's safe to say that most of us in our 20's adore drinking and other recreational "hobbies."  It's like there was no separation between binge drinking and care-free losing reality, into real life after college.  Unlike our older generations, those who are currently not married or parents yet just want to enjoy the last of our freedoms.  However, the pitfall with that is that we tend to praise the positive "freedoms" and neglect to worry about the negative ones.  Since living here in the city, I can't help but notice how many alcoholics there are out there.  Alcohol is absorbed in all of our social lives and its incredibly difficult to replace that with a safer outlet.  Here's my ultimate question: when is all of the partying ENOUGH?  We spend tons of money every day on the things that help us release, but in the end if we were to simply be sober and come to face with reality it would bring utter happiness in our lives.  I have yet to meet a person who can walk the avenues without a desire to stop in a bar/lounge for a drink!  I'm not here to bash anyone because I'm not innocent myself, but I find too many of us out there do become blinded by life's fun.  Last Saturday, while drinking with friends at a super dive in the East Village I couldn't help but observe at how disgustingly drunk people got.  It brought a "slap in the face" to how I'm starting to want to end my bar hopping days.  Hey, I'm damn not 21 anymore!!
