Never alone

In a city so large and full of opportunities, it can be so easy to feel alone.   Alicia Keys portrayed this perfectly in the beginning of her music video for, "Doesn't Mean Anything," where she discussed just that while looking over Manhattan.  After first moving to the city, I was completely excited to be surrounded by people hoping that I wouldn't feel so alone.  However, here I am years later and that feeling penetrates every day.   Walking around the enormous buildings with an assortment of people can easily make anyone feel tiny.  We all know that the themes of, "You can do it!  Come here and make YOUR dream come true!" directs to one individual, so when you do come here, be prepared to follow that journey alone.  It's not easy, and not everyone can "fit the mold."  However, my opinion is if you are able to land a job here, especially now with unemployment GROWING instead of DYING, you are making it.  If I were still living on Long Island,  I probably wouldn't be working right now.  Working in Manhattan was always the first priority in regards to my career goals.  So, all in all I do enjoy the vibe, but I'm still getting used to the lonely feeling.  This is definitely one of the most intimidating cities-especially for a young woman.  However, I feel incredibly blessed to be able to be working on the 25th floor of a building, with amazingly large windows to allow  me to stand and reflect.  Not everyone can say they have that to look forward to every day.  Kudos to life's accomplishments!!
